Shandra Woworuntu is a survivor of modern day slavery, sex trafficking.

Shandra came to the United State for a job opportunity in the when she was 25, shandra came across the job offer in the newspaper it was for a hospitality job for the big hotels. she was planning to work in the US for six months to gather enough money to take care of her 3 year old daughter. Once shandra arrived a man called her name and was holding up a sign with her picture his name was Johnny Shandra arrived in JFK with 4 women and a man they were then split into two groups Johnny then took all of her documents. she was put into the car with the 2 other women. They drove to Flushing in Queens then had to get out and into another car with a different diver, Shandra saw the diver give Johnny money, that was when Shandra new something wasn't right. the only drove a short way again and then they had to get into another car with a different driver each time money was exchanged, then the third driver took them to a house were they met the forth driver this time he had a gun. They finally reached a house were the man called " Mama-sun" Shandra started to panic because the know that meant madam of a brothel. when she entered the house she saw a girl 12-13 on the ground screaming in pain as men surrounded her taking turns to kick her repeatedly she was covered in blood a man had a base ball showing off and trying to scare Shandra as she was walking into the house. Shandra was forced to have sex less than an hour she arrived in the US. the next day Johnny came and said thing like sorry there must have been some massive mistake, he told them it would never happen again. that day he said they would go and get their ID photos and uniformes, they trusted him he gave them the hope of leaving. But again they were deceived they arrived at a sex and lingerie shop Shandra had a man on her at all times making sure she wouldn't try anything. Shandra was spit up from the other women sex trafficked with her she was put in a car to Chicago to perform sex acts. Shandra said that night she arrived in Chicago she sore a trafficker with a police Badge he was an officer of the law. she did end up escaping and once she did she went to a local police station and told them what had happened but they didnt believe her and told her to go home, the only was she got justice because a stranger saw she was upset she told him her story and he called the FBI.
